With a team that has amassed AI developers and robotics scientists, SingularityNET (AGI) was developed to serve as a marketplace for AI services made accessible through the blockchain. From individual algorithms & standalone AI applications to machine learning or model training, these services would be offered to satisfy demand for AI among various communities. The long-term goals of the SingularityNET team include building an ecosystem of AI Agents that would interact with one another using resources from the OpenCog Foundation and help people to create, share, and monetize AI services at scale over a decentralized network.
Services on SingularityNET can be accessed using the AGI token. Token holders can use their tokens to purchase services in the marketplace. In the future, tokens may also bestow voting rights in the network’s democratic governance system. (see whitepaper p.10)
During the initial phases of network operation, most major governance decisions will be made democratically by token holders, with the Foundation providing some high-level stewardship and practical day-to-day management. As the network evolves, there is potential for transition to a fully self-regulating Decentralized Autonomous Organization, and the network’s technical specifications and governance methodology are designed to support this. The Request for AI Portal (RFAI) is a DApp through which end users and application developers can request specific AI services they would like added to the network and stake AGI tokens as a reward for high-quality solutions. (see whitepaper p.15)
